Many workers are excited about generative AI. But how do different generations — from Gen Z to Boomers — feel about adding AI-powered devices to their daily workflows?
In a survey conducted by Insight in partnership with The Harris Poll, 604 employees from three age groups — Gen Z, Millennials and Gen X/Boomers/Seniors — expressed their feelings about AI-powered devices in the workplace. The varied responses across generations revealed several statistically significant findings.
A new generation of devices for the next generation of workers
AI-powered work is the new reality — but is the workforce ready for it? In partnership with The Harris Poll, we asked employees of varying age groups how they feel about AI at work. For this survey, we defined AI-powered devices as electronic gadgets or machines built with AI technologies to perform tasks that traditionally require human intelligence.

73% of employees believe AI-powered devices will increase their productivity. However, nearly 2 in 3 employees (64%) believed AI-powered devices will change critical skills needed to do their job.
- 75% believe AI-powered devices will help their employer stay competitive.
- 94% of employees have at least 1 concern.
- 28% are concerned about becoming too reliant on the technology.
