When COVID-19 struck, it brought a host of challenges as employers scrambled to enable remote workers in accordance with new mandates. At Insight, a challenge is an opportunity — to meet a need with exceptional solutions, to deliver beyond expectations, and to help clients not only adapt to new demands, but to evolve.
At the start of the pandemic, when it was clear most employees would need to work from home, a long-term client came to us with a request to help outfit remote workers with Microsoft® Surface® devices to replace on-site desktops.
Given our history with the client, this engagement was a natural fit. Having partnered with us to fill the gaps in its managed services contract with a competitor for more than 15 years, the client had recently moved away from managed services to owned equipment. As part of that decision, and based on the quality of our prior service delivery, the client contracted with Insight to support the installation and deployment of new network components across 444 sites.
Nearing the end of this network engagement, a pandemic struck. Impressed with our team’s on-time delivery, and needing availability, pricing and warranty options not offered by competing OEMs, the client’s senior director of digital business services reached out to Insight, requesting 5,200 Microsoft Surface devices within a week.
While the client has traditionally chosen devices from another leading OEM, Microsoft® Surface® devices offered undeniable benefits for employees, and the partnership between Insight and Microsoft Surface teams offered device availability, support services, and turnaround times no other provider could deliver.
Thanks to Insight’s deep partnership with Microsoft Surface, procurement and deployment of the necessary Microsoft Surface devices was a quick and seamless process. The client request was made on March 10, 2020, and Microsoft Surface devices were delivered to 30+ locations across Canada and the U.S. by March 17.
Client leadership was extremely satisfied with the service delivery provided through the Insight and Microsoft Surface partnership, noting that the way everything arrived, palletized and secure, with no damages, made deployment exceptionally easy for the client’s IT departments.
Now, the client’s employees are empowered with Microsoft Surface devices to stay connected and productive as they work remotely, and the client continues to reap the benefits of the committed partnership of Insight and Microsoft. In the months since the initial Microsoft Surface device procurement, the client has continued working with Insight to fulfill ongoing weekly orders of Microsoft Surface devices, to perform all necessary device kitting and lab services, as well as to administer and support additional Microsoft services.
