Container technology packages a software’s application code and related files. This allows for seamless deployment across host environments. Packaging items in a container isolates an application’s dependencies, which supports scalability and agility across environments and eliminates potential incompatibility obstacles.
When managing a large number of containers a container orchestration program, such as Kubernetes, can help automate the deployment of scaling and managing applications.
Containerization and virtualization each have unique use cases, and the key difference is their isolation from the host operating system. Virtual machines power their own operating system entirely isolated from the host OS, while containers rely on the physical server’s OS to run workloads.
