Kanban is a project management principle that focuses on visualizing work and tracking tasks through various stages to completion. Kanban is used to improve workflows within and between teams. Work items are broken down into “cards” that are moved between columns based on where they are at in the process. One simple example of columns is “to do,” “doing” and “done.” The tool can be used for individuals, teams and at an organizational level.
Many Agile and DevOps teams use Kanban to improve productivity by organizing daily work. This approach promotes collaboration and communication among team members, which ultimately enhances efficiency. Project managers find Kanban particularly useful as it helps them manage the workload, identify gaps or roadblocks, and work through tasks more effectively.
