The IDC MarketScape notes, “Insight's Flex for Devices has already helped many companies reduce spend on devices, support, and software licenses while freeing up IT resources for other initiatives.” We’ve intentionally designed Insight Flex for Devices to deliver end-to-end device lifecycle management through a unified, subscription-based model that we strongly believe is the answer to modern device management, no matter how many end users you’re empowering.

The Full Lifecycle Experience

For years, device management strategies have relied on fixed refresh cycles, replacing endpoints every three or four years, regardless of actual performance or user experience. While this approach may have sufficed in a less dynamic IT landscape, today’s organizations face new pressures: hybrid workforces, rising user expectations, and the accelerating pace of technology innovation, such as the rapid advancements we’re already seeing in AI PCs.

The reality is that not all devices age — or perform — the same, and a one-size-fits-all lifecycle model can lead to unnecessary costs, lost productivity, and missed opportunities to leverage the emerging capabilities of AI.

Performance management is now at the forefront of end-user computing. Forward-thinking IT leaders are shifting to performance-based refresh strategies, using real-time data to monitor device health, application reliability, and user experience. This enables organizations to proactively refresh or remediate devices only when needed, maximizing ROI and keeping users productive.

Insight Flex for Devices is built for this new paradigm, delivering a full lifecycle experience that adapts to the actual needs of your business and workforce—rather than arbitrary timelines. The “Flex” actually stands for “Full Lifecycle Experience,” which is a philosophy that goes well beyond simply replacing old devices based on an arbitrary expiration date. In today’s enterprise environment, device management must address every stage of the lifecycle:

  • Procurement: Sourcing and acquiring the right devices for each organization’s needs
  • Provisioning: Streamlining device setup and configuration to accelerate deployment
  • Warehousing: Secure storage and inventory management for devices before they are deployed
  • Deployment: Coordinated delivery and roll-out of devices to end users, wherever they are located
  • Support: Providing ongoing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and end-user help desk services to ensure devices remain operational and users stay productive for the duration of their device
  • Sustainability: Responsible end-of-life management, including refurbishment, secure disposal, and support for sustainability goals

Reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is central to every step, and our approach acknowledges these elements as critical to client success.

Flex-ing on DaaS

The IDC MarketScape notes the following strengths for Insight:

  • “Insight's Flex for Devices solution helps IT leaders manage their overall physical asset estate while orchestrating data across platforms to create a holistic managed experience.”

  • “Advanced Asset Management (AAM) gives IT leaders a full global view of the assets in their environment across 16 different asset states, including undeployed assets, those in transit, devices in triage, assets deployed in the field and their utilization estate, and those that are ready for disposal.”

How is this beneficial? Shortly after a leading North American building-products manufacturer launched Flex, the solution contributed to the recovery of 49% of devices with delayed-return status, enabling refurbishment or secure disposal. Security is paramount, and unused devices left unpatched can pose significant risks.

Flex Digital Experience (DEX) monitoring tools track app reliability, boot speed, battery health, and other metrics to assess user experience. When DEX metrics decline, proactive exchanges ensure productivity remains high and TCO is reduced. And that’s great for the bottom line, as recent industry data by HP shows that 85% of workers on refreshed devices report increased productivity.

Meeting Modern Enterprise Challenges

Traditional DaaS models often equate to device refreshes every few years. Insight Flex for Devices goes deeper, extending device lifecycles by refreshing only when user experience demands it. Our advanced exchange solution delivers replacement devices by the next business day, wherever users are located.

Insight Flex for Devices provides our clients with the processes and tools to keep devices healthy as long as possible, repairing or replacing them as needed. The service is tailored to each organization, ensuring the right devices reach the right users at the right time, all on a subscription model with per-unit pricing and a single monthly bill. This enables organizations to forecast costs and allocate IT resources more strategically.

The report states, “Organizations with diverse users and needs would do well to consider Insight. In addition, those that have stringent company policies and difficulties enforcing them would also do well partnering with Insight. Regarding the former, Insight carries a wide variety of hardware and software options, including all the major brands and designs.”

Stakes Are High: Rethinking Devices for AI Era

Today’s IT procurement leaders are at a crossroads. The rapid emergence of AI-powered PCs, coupled with the imminent end of support for Windows 10, is forcing organizations to make foundational decisions about how they equip and empower their workforce. The risks of clinging to legacy approaches — from security vulnerabilities to missed opportunities for productivity and innovation — have never been higher.

As you weigh your next move, ask yourself:

Does your current device management strategy give you the visibility, flexibility, and control needed to support a modern, distributed workforce? Are you positioned to take advantage of the latest advances in AI, automation, and digital experience… while keeping costs predictable and sustainability goals within reach?

With Insight Flex for Devices, we don’t believe you have to compromise. Our unified, full-lifecycle approach is designed to help you navigate today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities — so your organization can thrive in the era of intelligent devices.
