When business operations are located at many sites across multiple states, properly structured network connections are critical to supporting daily tasks. If left unchecked, structural inconsistencies can slow or halt operations.

A beverage bottler and distributor with operations spanning 40+ facilities and 13 states experienced weekly disruptions due to a lack of logical separation and standardized layers in its network.

The company, which is a subsidiary of a U.K.-based conglomerate, needed to resolve the issue fast to support an upcoming series of acquisitions that would triple its size. Higher revenue from the growth would also trigger new compliance requirements.

Refreshing IT for today and preparing for the future

The company’s leadership determined a new platform with advanced technology would enable reliable business operations and support upcoming growth. They decided to partner with Insight to help address its network needs and create a future-state roadmap.

Our Cloud + Data Center Transformation team started a network technology refresh for the client by first assessing and documenting the existing infrastructure and defining future requirements.

With the results, we created a network adoption plan to solve the stability and performance issues. After the client approved the strategy, we updated the IT infrastructure at all of the facilities — eight bottling plants and 42 sales and distribution centers.

We deployed scalable, fault-tolerant systems and a software-defined wide-area network that can accommodate rapid business growth. After deployment, we implemented a remote network operations management plan to manage the new infrastructure on behalf of the client.

Also, we collaborated with the client to identify internal skills gaps and addressed them through a comprehensive team training plan.

Advanced infrastructure to improve operations

Our infrastructure assessment and deployment equipped the client with cutting-edge capabilities to effectively support the business in real-time, while enabling future growth.

The new systems removed the lack of centralized network device authentication and security vulnerabilities in the previous network. Compliance and audit-readiness was also improved.

Through these upgrades, the client advanced its ability to respond to future business challenges. The success of this project improved the IT team’s reputation within the company — positioning them as a business enabler.
