The vision: Stronger compliance guardrails to support AWS expansion
For more than a decade, this client has worked with Insight on a myriad of technology projects, including managed AWS® cloud consumption. Over the last year, the airport has received monthly reviews on its cloud spend and potential optimizations and set its sights on expanding this cloud footprint. But first, our client needed to improve and standardize its compliance guardrails in AWS and so tapped Insight for support.
For an international airport with 15K+ cameras and petabytes of video to store, migrating from an existing on-premises solution and expanding its cloud presence meant standardizing was crucial.
A strong foundation to build on for the long term
To validate an appropriate solution for this goal, Insight developed a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the client, with the ultimate goal of providing a repeatable, streamlined process of expanding its AWS footprint under compliance standards. Through the process of the PoC, Insight and the client collaborated to reach a suitable solution that fit its needs for efficient footprint expansion. Ultimately, this PoC included a build-out of AWS Control Tower®, Security Hub and GuardDuty.
Together, the governance management and automation capabilities will allow the international airport to easily stand up additional cloud resources without having to manually develop compliance each time.
The outcome: Improved compliance and streamlined cloud growth
With the PoC in place, the client achieved an efficient, repeatable framework to apply compliance consistently across new cloud assets. With existing and future cloud needs integrated into these security solutions, the client now has a centralized hub for monitoring and managing cloud security and compliance. In the end, this international airport can feel confident knowing its cloud environments are operating under a standardized, streamlined security framework.
