Challenge

Standardize a complex mobile device environment while improving support coverage, simplifying lifecycle management and staying within budget during a large-scale technology refresh.

Outcomes

Deployment of approximately 2,800 Apple® devices with enterprise support coverage, creating a more reliable technology environment while establishing a foundation for future growth and refresh cycles.

Solutions: Apple

For children facing complex medical needs, every moment of care matters — from the first check-in to the conversations that reassure worried families. Behind those moments, clinicians need dependable mobile technology that helps them stay connected, coordinate quickly and focus more fully on the young patients counting on them.

Better Care For Every Child: Pediatric Hospital Strengthens Device Ecosystem

For a leading children's healthcare provider, years of device growth had created a complex environment. Device models varied across departments, support coverage was inconsistent, and planning future refresh cycles required significant effort.

Supporting caregivers with technology everyone can count on

As the organization prepared for a major refresh initiative, leaders could have simply replaced devices. Instead, they worked with Insight and Apple to establish a long-term strategy to bring greater structure, predictability and efficiency to mobile device management.

This started with a Fleet Analysis, creating a detailed view of the organization's Apple device landscape. The assessment helped pinpoint opportunities to simplify management, standardize hardware, and create a more sustainable lifecycle approach.

From there, the organization leaned on Insight for:

  • Deployment of ~2,000 iPhone® and 800 iPad® devices
  • AppleCare® for Enterprise coverage across all deployed devices
  • Apple Business enrollment and alignment
  • Collaboration with Apple Partner teams to secure enterprise support eligibility
  • Buyback and refresh planning recommendations
  • A structured lifecycle framework for future device renewals

The result was not simply a new fleet of devices, but a more organized and strategic approach to managing technology across the organization.

Today, the healthcare organization operates with approximately 2,800 standardized Apple devices backed by AppleCare for Enterprise coverage — helping care teams stay connected, responsive and ready for the children and families who depend on them every day.

A stronger foundation for years to come

With fleet data organized and standardized, technology leaders at the health system gained a clearer picture of what devices were in use, how they were supported and when future investments would be required. Planning efforts that once involved uncertainty are now more predictable and data-driven.

According to the project team, Fleet Analysis effectively created a "clean slate" for future planning —giving stakeholders confidence in both current operations and upcoming refresh cycles.

The health system turned their device refresh into a more thoughtful, sustainable technology strategy. The outcome: A stronger foundation powering compassionate pediatric care — giving caregivers dependable tools today while making it easier to plan for the needs of young patients tomorrow.
