Glossary What is Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)?

By   / 2 Jan 2023  / Topics: As a service Modern infrastructure

Infrastructure as a Service is a cloud service model that provides virtualized data center components — network, storage and compute — to clients. While the infrastructure is hosted through the cloud, the user is able to manage applications and data, including the operating system, development tools and database, through a digital management portal.

Since the IaaS vendor hosts the infrastructure, users avoid the costs associated with maintaining physical hardware. This model makes it easy to scale infrastructure resources, since more are available in the cloud.
