A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a separate, secure network that’s deployed within a public network. Only approved devices that pass the VPN’s authentication requirements can access it. Businesses often use VPNs to support remote workers who access company applications and data outside its internal network.
Although not necessary for a VPN, they are often encrypted to provide an extra layer of security. Users within the VPN can connect and share data as though they were directly connected.
