With intelligent edge, some data processing happens on-site — but this doesn’t eliminate the need for a well-thought-out centralized data processing center that may be best served from the cloud. Here, we’ll share our recommendations for an intelligent edge cloud architecture.
“With edge, we're not really talking about a solution that's completely running in the cloud — just certain pieces of it are going to rely on the cloud. So our goal is to find out what those pieces are and be able to build a solution intelligently that can run and be swapped in and out without having to be rewritten or reworked.”

Ben has had a long career in software architecture in which his hunger for finding new and innovative ways to improve processes landed him in a software engineering role 20 years ago. Since then, he has served some of the largest organizations in the world as a consultant and subject matter expert in software development, architecture, IoT and microservices. He served as a chief architect and worked closely with partners like Microsoft, Intel, and Google, presenting solution all over the world. He excels in his ability to understand a problem from a broad perspective, break the pieces apart, and provide practical solutions that are robust and easy to understand. What he finds most rewarding is to mentor colleagues and clients in a manner that empowers them to innovate on their own and advance their career long term.

Joyce joined Insight in October 2020 as our North America President. Prior to joining Insight, she worked at Dell Technologies for 21 years as president, global channel, embedded and edge solutions, leading various roles, including sales, operations, supply chain, partner strategy, services delivery and logistics. Joyce earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated from Brown University with a degree in International Relations. Prior to Dell, she worked at Cummins Engines for nine years as EMEA logistics director, plant manager and director of international customer support. Today, Joyce is building upon Insight’s solution areas by leveraging her channel expertise and proven leadership in delivering solutions and services to clients.

Juan Orlandini
Chief Architect, Insight
Juan is the chief architect for the Cloud + Data Center Transformation division of Insight. He’s a 30-plus year veteran of the IT industry, during which time he has designed and deployed enterprise computing, storage, data protection, virtualization and hybrid cloud solutions. Juan evaluates next-generation technologies for Insight and also works with enterprise clients, assisting them in architecting and selecting strategic roadmaps. In his current role, Juan sits on the partner advisory boards for a number of our top strategic partners, helps lead our solution architect team and acts as a technical liaison within our multiple divisions. Juan is passionate about next generation technologies — both in the data center, cloud and in the consumer market space.

Amol Ajgaonkar

Amol has more than 15 years of experience successfully implementing technology for business outcomes. He specializes in architecting and implementing IoT solutions using Azure for manufacturing and other industry segments. Amol has also worked with Microsoft Azure Sphere to embed security into cloud-connected devices to enable clients to focus on creating new products and services.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Joe focuses on the Microsoft stack of technologies to help clients keep up with the workplace technology curve. His expertise revolves around the latest cloud tools that drive collaboration, communication and security.
Ben Kotvis
Chief Architect, IoT, Insight
Ben has spent the last several years building IoT solutions for residential, agricultural, manufacturing and heavy machinery applications. Writing software in .NET, he works to solve business problems by introducing automation and building robust, cloud-based applications. He’s passionate about delivering value to his customers as well as building solutions where scaling and performance are part of the design from the first line of code to go-live.

Chris McCoy is a product manager with Insight’s Connected Workforce team, where he works to design and build specific service offerings to enable and deliver mobility and endpoint management technologies to Insight’s clients. Chris has more than 20 years of technical solution sales and product management experience working for companies such as Dell Technologies, Lenovo, Parallels and Insight. Although Chris has a broad knowledge of many areas of technology, he has specific expertise in end-user computing, client virtualization and VDI.
