Office 365 Advanced Compliance integrates machine learning, predictive coding and text analytics capabilities, all of which were formally known as Advanced eDiscovery. Ultimately helping achieve the goal of reducing costs and resolving challenges that come along with sorting through large quantities of data in eDiscovery cases. In today’s data environment, the eDiscovery process for any given case could involve sorting through millions of emails, text messages, instant messages and documents to find the small number of files that are most relevant. O365 Advanced Compliance reduces the volume of data by eliminating duplicate files, reconstructing email threads and identifying key themes and data relationships. Finally, it enables users to train the system to intelligently explore and analyze large, unstructured data sets and quickly zero in on what is relevant.
To continue improving this new offering Microsoft is rolling in Customer Lockbox and the new Advanced Data Governance into the same product. Customer Lockbox ensures that no one at Microsoft can access customer content to perform a service operation without the customer’s explicit approval. Customer Lockbox brings the customer into the approval workflow for such access to customer content. As customers move data to Office 365, they may be concerned about access to their data in the service by the service provider. In the rare cases, when a Microsoft employee needs access to customer content to perform a service operation, Customer Lockbox provides customers with the ability to approve or reject requests for access.
Advanced Data Governance, the newest of the Advanced Compliance technologies, addresses the data overload that we as an industry are experiencing daily. Intelligent cloud services should work smarter, more agile and stay competitive as data grows, and with Office 365 Advanced Data Governance it will support that mission. Microsoft’s platform leverages classifications and machine assisted insights to help you keep what’s important while leaving behind redundant, obsolete, and trivial content. Your content across the Office 365 platform within Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Skype for Business, each important to an organization each, is efficiently protected for as long as you need it to be.
